This has me thinking ahead to that time - and let me tell you, I don’t want any of my family or future family to live in a police state. So glad I became a Founding Member here Terry! Great values projected… ❤️🇺🇸

I can’t believe you were with ABC so long and you have so much more to say about what is happening. So grateful you are saying it now and grateful for these deep dives. I kept thinking about those classic journalism story telling things-who what where how and why and how the why has gone by the wayside especially with the loss of having basic facts that are true and not all the lies .

Terry,

You are producing some of the best journalism being creating anywhere today.

Keep writing, doing interviews, and sharing stories with us, especially about you and your experience growing up.

ABC made a grave error firing you.

This conversation with Anand and you was first rate and a gem to listen to and reflect on.

Keep doing this kind of work.

I watch lots of Substack & other independent outlets & find myself looking forward to Terry Moran. Consummate story teller bringing the human element to tragedy in the most authentic way. So glad you’re here Terry & thanks Anand, tears in my eyes.

Well said. Terry is special. He brings so much humanity and sincerity to his interviews and reporting. I've been a fan of his since his Court TV days. Very happy he's here on Substack.

Wow, just wow. Thank you both for your profound words. I am 62, I never had children but I have been an educator/librarian for most of my career, after starting in local government. I have been questioning where my generation deviated to allow us to arrive at this moment in time. Those a few years older had fought hard for many things because they believed in the "dream". We were able to achieve that dream then became complacent, I fear. I feel I let down future children by not continuing to fight to maintain what had been achived.

Henry George (born September 2, 1839, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—died October 29, 1897, New York City, New York) was a land reformer and economist who in Progress and Poverty (1879) proposed the single tax: that the state tax away all economic rent—the income from the use of bare land but not from improvements—and .

I highly recommend people read this piece from Olivia Troye. Olivia was a security advisor to Mike Pence. but don't dismiss her. She has been using her professional knowledge and experience working with Trump to help people understand the Trump regime.

In this piece, Olivia unpacks how this tragedy happened and the questions people and communities need to ask themselves to understand if a similar tragedy is waiting for them - "If you live in a floodplain, a wildfire zone, or a hurricane corridor, pay attention. The warning that never came in Texas may never come for you. Find out what your town, your state, and your elected officials are doing to prepare for disasters or what they’ve quietly stopped doing".

This was a great conversation. It is such a pleasure to be a part of such an intelligent and wide ranging exchange of ideas. I have read Anand’s piece about the Flooding in Texas, and it was very moving. And you made an excellent point about how the piece is challenging but in a way that invites people into thinking in a new way. Regarding the media, we are so fortunate, Terry, to have here rather than on ABC. You are bringing stories, insights, and new perspectives to us and we greatly appreciate that. And I agree that news is a form of storytelling; but it needs to encourage deep thinking, inquiry, and empathy. That can’t happen in the mainstream media. Independent media is the new frontier.

I will say Ava du Vernay has been making those types of amazing films and stories - but they don't get the kind of widespread reach and atttention they should.

These are visions that native Americans have had to watch as we plundering 'immigrants' have destroyed much of mother Earth's gifts. I once loved a reservation born 50% Ojibwa Indian. The land is in essence, their religion. It seems to be universal to all tribes. One of tRumps first cuts was to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Each reservation is sovereign and has it's own laws. tRump wanted their compliance.

Shut down the processing plants for 5 days then study the temperature readings. If the temperature goes down even 1% then the answer is obvious.
