It’s hard to articulate the anger I feel with the Tennessee Legislature. A very good friend lives in Memphis and her black community is feeling defeated once again.
I'm angry about the Supreme Court's eviseration of the Voting Rights Act, and the opinion written by Justice Alito essentially endorsing partisan gerrymandering (giving a green light to Republican state legislatures to redistrict, which Democratic states will have to respond to). .
Both the political biases of the right-wing Court majority, and the corruption of many of them (Thomas, Alito, Roberts), have severely damaged the legitimacy of the Supreme Court.
By the way, your "Table Talk" is my #1 weekly "guilty pleasure" activity.
Hey Terry, I'll admit I rarely if ever comment on your table talk. But, today's prompt to comment what's on your mind drew me in. On account of there is a lot on my mind, to the point its spinning like a top, however let me just give you the spark notes. The first thing that is on my mind is the Supreme Court's execution of the Voting Rights Act, the conservative (neo-confederate) majority gave a green light for red states to dissolve minority voting power in the name of a fascist. This decision is sickening because the Voting Rights Act created the first age of democracy, let that sink in 1965 was the first time every person in America had equal representation. And in the lifetime of those who fought, witnessed their friends be tortured and killed its gone. What makes it worse is people are cheering, not just hardcore MAGA but Republicans that are so called Moderates. The Second issue on my mind is today (05-08-26) 4 conservatives on the Virginia Supreme Court overturned a redistricting map that was passed by the people, 3 million in fact passed this referendum. Yet, that meant nothing as these Neo-Confederate Justices gutted the decision of the people to placate a fascist. Allowing Republicans to stack the mid-terms in their favor by re-drawing maps in Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, and more. My final thought is this if the minority voice in this country is dissolved the horrors of Trump's gestapo will go uncheck allowing an unprecedented campaign of disenfranchise, terror and dare I say erasure, yes industrial scale erasure not just of minority people but our culture, achievements, history, and more until we became an afterthought in America. In conclusion, I grieve my country for I've tried to hold out hope, tried to see the shining light on the hill but now I see the true red, white and blue of America.

Today was a pod filled with genuine emotion… when talking about your mothers and BEING a mother. I really enjoy the feeling your podcast gives the audience. We feel as if we are directly across the table from you and we are enjoying coffee (or wine) together! Happy Mother’s Day!

Please tell her to go out and encourage them to be sure to vote. Wouldn't it be something if it backfires on trump and people vote 🩵

I know and agree. It’s very concerning to me too.
Mad about gas for $6.39 and items inflated by Trump tariffs and senseless war.

Why choose to honor Donald Trump by attending the WHCA Dinner?
The ridiculous State department swag that Rubio gave to the Pope!! “Wow, okay” indeed. WTF!!!
Always a fun and interesting conversation!!!
Ahhh. So sad I didn’t get the link so I missed it this week.
