Finally someone went to Springfield to show us the real story. Thank you for sharing this story.

Way to go Mr. Moran. We support you courage for those who tell the truth.

Like the pastor, I’m conflicted about getting arrested for civil disobedience; however, if it means standing against a wannabe dictator with no empathy for immigrants plight, then lock me up. History will be kinder to the pastor and me.

Trump and Vance were never really held accountable for their slanderous comments about these fine people. Thank you finally doing it. If you could get a network program like CBS Sunday Morning to pick up this piece and give it a wider audience it would do wonders to show the barbaric cruelty people are being forced to endure under this regime. Keep up your excellent work. There is much to be done and your work will make a huge difference.

YouTube has become a good forum, free to the "author" and to us, the viewers, and for something like this, uncensored.

As a 72 year old man who loves my country and did all I could in my life to uphold it ideals, I am ready to get into some good trouble for the benefit of the younger generations that stand to lose so much. I am ready to be arrested to make the point that country and constitution is more important than anything else. We must stand up for honesty and truth and this regime be damned.

Exactly my feelings. We have everything to loose if we don't.

Scratch the wannabe dictator. He has succeeded. That what we living under now. It's going to get much worse and much more real for all of us in the coming months.

The Haitians have been taken advantage of in a lot of different ways. The loans on their homes. Were hirer. The insurance to cover their homes is higher because they are Haitians in a Haitian community. But they are the people that work in the nursing homes the jobs that nobody wants to do because they don't get paid a decent hourly salary. Taking care of our elderly is a very important position and we just don't have enough people that are willing to make under $10 an hour and do the things that they have to do. There's other jobs that they can get that are easier. They also do laundry and Cleaning. In the Haitian community the schools can't get teachers so they hire Haitians to teach. This is in the West of South FL.

This is the kind of reporting I was waiting for. This is why I subscribed. Excellent reporting, excellent production. Factual, emotional and a story that needed to be told. I think I must have had a bit of dust blow into my eye while I was watching. Thank you, Terry.

Why was no major network willing to go behind the scenes and tell this story? I am afraid we all know the answer to that question--but at least you had the courage to visit and find out the truth. Thanks, Terry

Just look to see who immediately started calling the Gulf- the 'Gulf of America'. "Do not obey in advance" Rule #1 in ON TYRANY. A book I am trying to memorize it is so appropriate to our time.

Dianna Aston's avatar

This is so much better than a network. YouTube would be a good venue for this reporting.

Terry, absolutely first-rate reporting, and you have the "gift" as a writer.

Keep showing us these stories.

This is one of the most repulsive things these cruel people have done to date.

The video report was deeply moving. This is such an important story and we are grateful that you can bring it to us with such empathy and eloquence. It is heartbreaking to listen to the stories of people who do not deserve to be treated by our government so hatefully. People who in fact were contributing to the prosperity of a city that before they arrived was in decline. These are dark days for our country, painful days, but if we keep the stories alive, we have a good chance of surviving. Thank you for keeping this story alive.

I love how you addressed the youngest as "My fellow American." Trump, Vance, or Stephen Miller cannot take that away from him. This family is more of a reflection of our country than the red hat brigade.

Such an important and fantastic report from Terry Moran! Cowardly ABC's loss is our gain

Cindy Schneider's avatar

Exactly! This is why the lapdog press is dying. But they cannot silence professionals!

Thank you all for the report! Certainly hope that 'God has a plan' against the gleeful cruelty of Trump/Vance/Miller.

This is what I hoped would come of your move to Substack. You promised to continue your work in the field and the production of video reports. I follow lots of commentators and analysts on Substack, but I yearn for this kind of content. I wish more reporters were doing the same.

I really appreciated this piece on Springfield, hearing from Haitian residents and the pastor, and learning a bit about the impact on the town's recovery from rustbelt status. It was inspiring.

Thanks for your reporting.
