Yes, that is a real possibility. Don’t just take my word for it. California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed a lawsuit seeking to stop Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth from extending the deployment of 300 National Guard troops in California for another 90 days—including Election Day.
“We’re suspicious,” Bonta told me. “If this deployment is allowed to stand, we will have American military in LA on the ground during a major election.”
