People still tell themselves that Trump is not King for life. What do folks think the new ballroom bunker and sniper/drone capabilities are really for? How about his soon to be paid militia?

Mary's avatar

He is a king at this point for all intent and purposes. I want to point out that Federal courts have kept this democracy alive, thus far, however. We should recognize that.

Judy Fancher's avatar

This why I wish we would have We the People marches. Even in the negative of No Kings we have named him a king.

Mary's avatar

Ian’s it getting worse.

Mary's avatar

Not sure what this means

So, Trump & Co. have wired the IRS about as much in their favor as might be humanly possible. One more dodge in a regime that is all about dodges. Question: what happens if a Democrat wins in 2028, and say, we have a blue House and Senate?

I'll tell you what SHOULD happen: the full weight of a reinvented Department of Justice and a revised Internal Revenue Service should fall on the lot of them like a ton of bricks. The criminal charges and civil lawsuits should be unrelenting, and considering just how much wrongdoing has been done by this regime, there is every reason why it should be.

I'll say it again: An example MUST be set. Laws MUST be enforced. Otherwise, the US becomes just another banana republic ... or worse.

ElizabethRTX's avatar

Absolutely. "We areva Nation of Laws, not of mem". And all those who have violated the Law should be brought to justice, including the President.

Deborah Petrina's avatar

Yep - "No one is above the law" needs action, not lip service.

Ann Lees's avatar

"Do not get discouraged. That is exactly what they want. Instead—consider what a privilege it is to stand up for our beloved country in this hour of her great need."

At this point it's very, very hard not to get overwhelmed by trump's corruption. The amount is so mind-boggling that it feels like we are drowning in a raging storm. So thank you for your inspiring call to action. If we keep making the effort despite being discouraged, we shall overcome.

It would be easier if we saw democratic leadership taking the same risks citizens have been asked to take. How many Goodes and Prettis before Schumers and Jeffries do something to make us believe in them? Where are our politicians? Some are out there. Most are not. Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden could be more vocal. Corporate media could be doing their journalistic jobs. We, the citizens of the USA, have been abandoned by all but independent media (Thank you Terry).

Beatrice George's avatar

Ann Lees and LORI are correct. And may I add a note - now is the time to turn to our young leaders. Substack abounts with young voices standing up and speaking the truth to the old timers. Think Adam standing up with facts against Jennings. These young fighters are so informed that they will lead us. In the meantime we can attack the status quo and ridding ourselves of the schumers, jeffries and k. martin. This old guard needs to be put out to pasture NOW. I for one refuse to support the DNC. I am supporting each young politician with direct donations. Maybe I don't have AIPAC's resources, but I can sure write, call and contribute. Come on - we have work to do!!!

Anandi Grackin's avatar

David Hogg had an org called Leaders We Deserve that supports young, energized candidates. They had a decent track record in the last election of getting candidates elected. There is one good place to contribute. David was elected a VP of the DNC but some old timer maneuvered to oust him. Disgraceful move.

David got his start when he was a student during the mass shooting at Parkland high school (Majory Stoneham Douglas High). Very good example for our country to see people like David turn such tragedy into action.

Beatrice George's avatar

This is exactly what I am talking about!. I too have been watching David ever since he and other had the March for our lives in DC. I am appalled at how the DNC treated him and decided then and there he deserves mine and others support. He sends emails seeking donations, but rather than give my $s to a credit card, I sent him a note and a check. I will continue to support him. He is a true fighter. I also intend to send the DNC a letter that I will never ever support them. Since I live in a red state all my donations go to out of state candidates. Thank you Anandi for pointing out Dave H. I ran out of room in my post; once on my soapbox I find it hard to get off.

Anandi Grackin's avatar

What kind of soap do you use? Other American need to wash with that too.

Jean A Merritt-Jones's avatar

I'm probably using the EXACT same soap as Beatrice George does!🤣

I say "probably" because I sometimes run out of soapbox b4 I get finished ranting/raving!!

We've got work to do folks!!

"Everyone understand the assignment?!?"

Mary's avatar

They’re going to use the intimidation of violence on Election Day to try to stop the vote. They will try to steal ballots. They’ll do whatever they want.

Lazlo's avatar

I am curious why they need the deal about having the IRS NEVER INVESTIGATE ANY DUMPSTER FIRE FAMILY? Because they know they are committing fraud, and they don't want to have to pay for their lawlessness. If everyone else in America can be audited, so can he and his weasels!!!

Marilena Aquino de Muro's avatar

Oh Terry, it's so sad, so sad, so tragically sad. I am so sorry to see the good people of the US going through these rough and dark times. 😭

Binsey Haugr's avatar

The mostly bad people of America have created these “rough and dark times” by celebrating and enabling a criminal. Trump reflects the character and ignorance of most Americans.

Mary's avatar

I don’t think it’s most. The bad ones are just louder.

May the people rise up and tell these criminals NO YOU ARE NOT TAKING OUR FREEDOMS FROM US!

Bill McClain's avatar

Yes, call it by its right name. But what is that? This is the single most corrupt act ever committed by a president. It needs to stick in the public’s consciousness long past today’s 15-minute news cycle. For that it needs to be branded. (Watergate, Benghazi, Hunter’s Laptop…) What’s the name for this rancid payola?

Troublesh00ter's avatar

How about: TAXGATE?

Kathleen Fernandez's avatar

Or how about "The 1.776 Billion Bamboozle"?

Sheryl Jensen's avatar

Beautifully and profoundly said, Terry! I will never bend to this level of corruption, to any corruption. We are NOT going to fulfill their dreams and succumb to the total destruction of our democracy. Never. Every time I think I can't get more angry about what is happening around us, he goes higher and wider in his web of total corruption.

Now, Todd Blanch is covered in the muck and I hope it gets so bad for him that he can barely walk. He is absolutely complicit in our destruction. Putin and Xi are signing 40 agreements today. Russia is giving Iran access to when, where, and how, our fighter jets are flying toward Iran so that they can be ready.

Putin, Xi, and Iran are allies. But apparently Mr. Giant Ego has no idea and is allowing his tiny brain to believe they all love him. With the exception of Iran. What president has to call Saudi Arabia and Qatar to make a decision on when to attack Iran or not. Who is in charge??? The UAE or Trump? Or Russia?

Sorry, just so over it all. We have to realize that we are stronger and more intelligent that he is so, you are right Terry, in that we need to contact the powers to be and make it a priority to squelch their evil plans every chance we get. I love this beautiful country too much to give up!!

Stephen's avatar

Bannon told us how they will throw so much shit at us we will be overwhelmed. For many, owning the libs is a good enough reason to burn down this country.

Kathleen Fernandez's avatar

To what? To live among the ashes? If they think their wealth can insulate them, they need to think again.

He has no intention of leaving and even when we finally have enough and storm that Bastille. Thinking It’s way past the time for the "fall of Versailles" here. It was triggered by the Women’s March on Versailles driven by starvation, bread shortages and skyrocketing costs on everything. Sound familiar…

It’s always about “the economy stupid”.. as well it’s always about “We the People” Take a look around, how many are going now with even less. Less food, less shelter, less jobs available, less medication, just less.. All the while those in power are taking even more… Good grief even our taxes are being paid for funding his militia and we have no say. That’s total Bullshit! Those in Congress proposing we give him another $1 billion to have that ballroom. Again, how much Bullshit does anyone think anyone will take!

Have long ago been passed the feeling of sadness that this experiment of a democratic republic is over. Well past, have been angry for way too long. If you are not working for a candidate locally, or in your State or for Congress get up and start doing so to overturn this “Dick”tatorship. It’s well past time. If you can afford to give just One-dollar to someone who will have a backbone and stand up for you, do so. If you haven’t called, or reached out to any of these Rethuglicans in Congress that may represent you, even though you didn’t vote for them then do so. If you haven’t been out in any protests that have occurred for over these last 17 months like a “No Kings” or any protests then do so. Because by God if you want anyone in your family to live within a messy democratic-republic versus any alternative then it’s well past time to do so. I’m a 69-year old mother and grandmother and have been to countries that have been “ruled” by the likes of these corrupt governments and have had enough of this crap ever taking place in this nation.

In the journals of Maryland delegate James McHenry after the Constitutional Convention outside of Philadelphia's Independence Hall in September 1787 Benjamin Franklin was asked “What kind of government was that they created?” Franklin’s response was simple, "A Republic, if you can keep it."

It’s way past time…

Let's stand up to the Trump Crime Family, call your Senators and Representatives, and demand that they do the job they were elected to do.

The American Empire was always going to decline and fall, or be the first one in history not to. But to be laid waste by one man, not even a smart man, just a crooked as a dog's hind leg devious and greedy one, that says a lot about the people who elected and supported him. It's not so much that the American Empire has fallen, it's more like it committed a protracted and fully aware suicide. I find it hard to believe, looking from the outside, that your entire government, with all the tools at its disposal, has been unable to thwart a man who started out as a small time grifter and surrounded himself with incompetent tools he could wield to dismantle the Republic and build an authoritarian state that is failing before the eyes of the world. The World's Policeman has become the world's smash and grab thief. It only goes to show that the capitalist system has failed spectacularly, and this is what happens when you let money command men's hearts. When a man will sell his soul for the touch of a teenager's body, and sell out the country he swore to serve in the process.

Trump deserves credit for one thing, and that is for being the man who learned that, not only is every man's soul for sale, but they will let them go cheap! I have remarked elsewhere that if I wanted to donate a percentage of my net worth equal to the $179 million Elon Musk bought Donald Trump for, Canada would have to bring back the penny and mint three smaller denominations. Trump came panting to lick Musk's hand for a sum that an ordinarily rich man might give a parking valet as a tip for not scratching his Bentley.

The world is shaking its head.

This week marks protest number 61 since the Blithering Idiot slithered back into the White House. I have lost count how many times I have contacted my "not as bad as Boebert, as bad as Stefanik, but not quite as polished" congressmember, Tenney. I can't afford my plant based diet, but I continue to donate to candidates needed to flip the House. There are a % of us very active, in many ways. Sadly, the % is not large enough. Too many are not involved, though continue to express concern, "ala" Susan Collins. Not very effective.

Terry,

Thank you for this excellent post. How the majority of Americans are not paying attention to this massive corruption is beyond me.

As I posted on BlueSky, June 14 is Obama Appreciation Day. And Flag Day. It’s time to stop allowing the PedoFelon to dictate OUR narrative. Vet and support Dem candidates like Becerra, Talarico, Schlossberg and others who stand with We The People not self-serving billionaires and special interests. As always, thanks Terry!

Kathleen Fernandez's avatar

It's also you-know-who's birthday, who is celebrating by turning the White House lawn into UFC exhibition. Nothing says Flag Day like a bunch of Yahoos knocking the hell out of one another.
